Simplified Monopole Tower
Reinforcing
Supporting the telecommunication industry’s demand for tower
capacity expansion, to meet growth requirements for co-location and data
exchange infrastructure, Hutter Trankina Engineering has designed and patented a
simplified, cost-effective monopole tower reinforcement scheme.
Cost-Effective
Construction costs typically under $25K for up to 2 additional
carriers
Unobtrusive
Low profile system ideal for zoning-sensitive communities
Incrementally Expandable
EXPANDABLE
Upgrade the tower in stages. As the industry expands
incrementally, so can your tower. Incremental expansion conserves precious
capital expenditures by aligning cash outflows with the pace of growth.
This patented approach to tower reinforcing consists of uniquely shaped, high
strength stiffening elements. These elements are attached to three sides of the
tower, typically extending to 60% of the tower height. Given their low profile,
1” - 2”, the stiffeners are barely visible from a short distance away. At
the base, gusset plates are used to distribute the increased load over the
existing base plate.
Case History
Background:
Location: Chicago, Illinois market
Tower Owner: Major tower company
Customer Need:
The Client owns a strategically located tower near the
heart of the city. Existing monopole was built as a single-carrier pole.
Client would like to accommodate two additional carriers who are
extremely interested in the site.
Solution:
Hutter Trankina Engineering’s simplified monopole
reinforcing. Low profile/high strength stiffening elements were
added to three faces of the tower. Given the minimal size of the stiffeners, the tower
appeared virtually unchanged, which averted any zoning issues.
The stiffeners, which extended 60’ above the base,
allowed for the expansion of two additional carriers.
Construction Cost/Time:
$26K/3 Days
Increased Tower Value:
Substantial
